Braishfield Parish Councillors and Clerks

At the introduction of Civil Parishes in1895 most of the village of Braishfield was part of the Civil Parish of Michelmersh. In 1932, Timsbury also became part of the Parish but Braishfield became a separate Civil Parish in 1951 with the inaugural meeting of the new Council being held on 14th April. Most of Braishfield came from the original Michelmersh Parish but it gained Sharpes Farm and related buildings from Timsbury. Since the boundary review of 1951, the Civil Parish of Braishfield has expanded to include Crookhill south of the Crook stream.

The first Chairman of Braishfield Parish Council was Major General (retd) Algernon Ransome who was born in the USA and was a naturalised UK citizen. He had seen service throughout the First World War rising to Brigadier, was recalled briefly to the BEF in the Second World War and then became CO of the Romsey area Home Guard. He lived at The Close in Church Lane.

The first Vice-Chairman was Albert Cobbold who was the village blacksmith living at the bottom end of Paynes Hay Road. He remained in this post for nearly 30 years.
